After concluding the “School Trilogy”, BTS kick off the “Youth Series” and discuss the uncertain future of youth in The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 1. BTS has chosen the theme to portray the start of one’s young adulthood in which beauty coexists with uncertainty.

In The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 1, not only were the Rap Line (RM, SUGA and J-Hope) credited for the lyrical works, the Vocal Line (Jin, Jimin, V and Jung Kook) also contributed to the album’s producing and songwriting. (Source: Big Hit)

The title track “I NEED U” combines Oriental main themes in lyricism with wild, electro hip hop. BTS sings about the anxiety in a love that is about to end. The song best describes the album’s theme 화양연화 (hwa yang yeon hwa) which both encompasses “a love that used to burn hot as if it will last forever but eventually cools down” and “the most beautiful moment blooming during youth but eventually withers with time”.
